I don't care what your rules are, but if trans is not allowed to do CAS, like hovering and using HMG on inf squads, then it shouldn't do it ever.

On Shijia just now he hovered so long I killed him with a LAT. Either Trans can do CAS or trans cannot do CAS? If they are allowed to do it sometimes it isn't a rule.

My point: If we know they can do CAS we will be hiding from them. We see a no CAS rule so we don't hide. We died.

Maybe remove the rule? At least all is clear then

My ingame argument to you was the following:

If
a) The transport chopper doesn't neglect its transport duty
b) The transport chopper doesn't neglect its logistics duty
c) The transport chopper doesn't violate the "asset-waste" rule
Then he is free to fire at anything in his way.
However, I'll leave it to the [NEW] admins to clarify on this.

The rules state:
3.4 If Pilots crash their vehicles multiple times because of low "skills", they'll get kicked/timebanned ->Our server is no trainingserver!
3.2.2 Transport Helicopters, AAVs plus other light vehicles are not affected by the Asset Rule
3.7 Assets have to be used in a proper way.

I agree with Nate on this (and I think this is also what should be read out of the current ruleset/common sense). If others think this should be discussed more deeply, we can open up an internal discussion about this, ofc.

Lots of guys got kicked for doing trans CAS and in my opinion you should stick to this rule.

On Shijia I observed the big chinese trans helicopter doing cas. I thought it was on the way of delivering crates which is fine. But it never dropped crates and flew circles above the airstrip. That is not proper useage of a transport helicopter. On Ia drang a huey was doing cas all the time but I think that does not really hurt on that map since US get so many hueys.

this directly leads back to that what Ranzpirat says ...

You can use the weapons of the trans helicopter as long as you full fil your role with transport and supplys if their team is complaining that they dont get supplys or trans then we will warn the pilot.

This "its just a trans helo just pass along he will not fire on us" is a dream and will not happen.

If there are people requesting Supplies or transport, this has to be priority for transport pilots.
But if there is nothing todo, Transport Helis like the Blackhawk should give some gunship support IMO, it's even encouraged by the DEVs otherwise they wouldnt have added miniguns back to the Ramiel Blackhawks or other choppers.

Just to inform you guys: wie are currently discussing this internally and will communicate our answer in this thread.

What is the result here? having the same discussion about it in our 3dAC rules.

we allow Trans to do CAS if:

- trans or logistic role is not required atm
- there is a second trans chopper that can take over trans if one gets shot down while doing CAS
